The Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security Tours Facilities in Southern District
The Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Beauty Manake together with her delegates on Wednesday, visited numerous agricultural sites in the Southern part of Botswana to appreciate government efforts towards improving dairy and meat production and also to explore ways in which the market can be improved.
Potential investors such as Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board, Local Entrepreneur Authority and National Development Bank were present.Manake toured BMC premises in Lobatse and Sunnyside Farms. She said that currently dairy production is at 12% and as such the main objective is to come up with means to increase production.
She then visited the meat industry training institute under BUAN. Manake proceeded to Milk Afric where she toured the premises to appreciate the production process as well as challenges faced by the company.
At Ramatlabama Artificial insemination centre she indicated that the low number of bulls is a concern and emphasized that the shortage of bulls at the centre, can be addressed by potential investors, to acquire more bulls and quality semen straw production.
